I have before! They are few & far between, but they do happen. I’ll probably do more when I work on MGoP tonight. My favorite one was Janis Ian hanging out of the car where she’s yelling at Cady but it’s the Johanna Mason quote “I don’t care if you’re knocked up, I’ll rip your throat out.” Because, let’s be real, Janis Ian is the perfect Johanna Mason:)

Fairly early. I was a smart kid & I loved it when I was young. I used to get accused of skipping ahead because I read so much quicker than everyone else.

I lost the love of reading around high school because I could never find a book I enjoyed or I was just busy or didn’t care but had always wanted to be one of those people that read every day but couldn’t find anything I felt a passion for.

The Hunger Games is actually what got me back into reading which I am so thankful for. Now I read, at the very least, three books a week & it’s really made me a lot happier in general. I like what George R. R Martin said about how a reader lives a thousand lives before they die.

Books! The best weapons in the world!

Oh boy. Tough question! This is going to be long-winded, please feel free to ignore.

If I have to choose, Coheed & Cambria is my all-time favorite band. I’ve been madly in love with them for a decade & it’s kind of a full immersion thing between their music, side projects, videos, & comic books. They’re generally considered prog rock/metal so there’s that, but I was one of those kids always at a show every week since I was 14 & I’ll never stop listening to the likes of New Found Glory, Brand New, Fall Out Boy (though, only their first album), Something Corporate, Jimmy Eat World, Senses Fail, Tegan & Sara, etc. Really, name any pop-punk/alternative/hardcore/whatever band via 2002-2007 & I’ve probably seen them live. I LOVE Bear Vs Shark, Alexisonfire, & have an affinity for Underoath’s first album on the more ~hardcore spectrum. What can I say, I’ll always be 15 at heart when it comes to music.

More recently, though, it’s a lot of Vampire Weekend (I still can’t get over their new album), Cults, Sleigh Bells, The Lumineers, & Young The Giant. Marina & The Diamonds & Robyn, gah, just let me BE YOU. I adore them.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my classic loves like Queen (OF COURSE), The Smiths, & Morrissey. Oh, & I don’t care what you say. Simon & Garfunkel is MY JAM. Always has been, always will be. I’m not too cool to admit that I probably listen to them more than any other band, ever.

Effie Trinket

Since guiding her tributes to victory, District 12’s exuberant escort Effie Trinket has quickly become an icon of the 74th Games, and a Capitol phenomenon. Effie has built her larger-than-life persona through a persevering positive attitude, and the best manners and fashion sense in the Capitol. Capitol citizens are likely to spot her trailed by snapping cameras, posing with her ever-present, ebullient smile. But what is she like when cameras aren’t rolling? We joined her over a typical day to find out.

11:00 am: Effie meets with the designer of the dress she’ll be wearing later this evening. The creation is exquisite; a flamingo’s dream of pink ruffles. “It’s a shame I can only wear it once,” says Effie.

1:00 pm: She sits down to a sumptuous feast filled with the finest of fare and quaffs, accompanied by the most cultured conversation… and served on a mahogany table no less.

4:00 pm: We head to an exclusive unnamed salon – (we can say some of your favorites like Portia & Flavius themselves have been known to get their own ‘dos done here) - it’s time to get to work on her hair and nails.

8:00 pm: In less than four hours’ time, Effie leaves the salon a completely different woman… But still 100% Effie.

9:00 pm: Effie arrives at this evening’s biggest event; a dinner party celebration featuring the Capitol’s most famed citizens. Heads turn as she passes. She is fashion-ecstasy personified; a fantasy in fabric. Now that she is here, the party may begin.

2:00 am: While the saturnalia continues, Effie sadly must depart. Tomorrow there will be more parties, more work to do. “When your job is being you,” says Effie, “there is never a day off.”

Indeed, we are lucky she is so good at her job—surely without her tireless efforts, the Capitol might not have the particular pair of exquisite victors it does today. We thank Ms. Effie Trinket for her time and allowing us all to revel in her Victory Tour ensembles!
